CATL Enters Strategic Partnership with Shanghai Municipal Investment (Group) Corporation

On August 28, CATL entered into a strategic partnership agreement with Shanghai Municipal Investment (Group) Corporation (SMI) at the Shanghai Tower, China's tallest building.

Under the agreement, the two sides are expected to establish in-depth cooperation in the fields of battery recycling, urban smart electric vehicle charging facilities, electrification of urban sanitation vehicles and equipment, distributed low-carbon energy stations for solar, storage and charging, and pilot demonstration of carbon neutrality”. 


During the ceremony, subsidiary companies of both sides also entered into cooperation agreements. Shanghai SMI Highway (Group) Co., Ltd. signed a partnership agreement with CATL QIJI Energy and Shanghai Core Times to jointly develop a heavy-duty truck battery swapping network and build a green corridor. Shanghai SMI Assets Management (Group) Co., Ltd. signed an agreement with Brunp Recycling to create a circular economy for new energy vehicles and EV batteries in Shanghai.

Attaching great importance to the construction of major engineering projects and the safe operation of the city, SMI is committed to making greater contributions to building Shanghai into a global metropolis with world influence. In the future, CATL will leverage its technological strengths and make joint efforts with SMI to promote Shanghai's "zero-waste city” construction and accelerate the pace for achieving the goal of carbon neutrality in Shanghai.
