On April 28, the first electric loaders equipped with CATL's long service life battery rolled off the production line at Longking headquarters in Longyan, southeast China's Fujian Province.
The construction machinery industry represents a crucial sector within CATL's electrification strategy. Electric loaders are spearheading the industry's transition towards electrification, boasting zero emissions, high efficiency, comfort and intelligent features, and superior economy of electric power over fuels. It is projected that the penetration rate of electric vehicles within the industry will surpass 20% by 2024. Over 10,000 electric loaders equipped with CATL batteries have been deployed so far, including more than 300 units that have been working for over 20,000 hours each. CATL's battery products have not only withstood the rigorous operating conditions of construction machinery but also amassed extensive experience and big data. At present, CATL holds a dominant market share exceeding 90% in the loader and construction machinery sectors.
CATL remains committed to promoting electrification across all industries. The penetration rate of electrification continues to rise in sectors such as construction machinery, heavy-duty trucks, buses, light-duty trucks, two-wheeled vehicles, as well as airplanes and ships. With the increasing diversity in EV battery demands across different industries, development for specialized applications has become increasingly crucial. Longking's new generation of electric loader is equipped with CATL's brand new long service life battery specifically developed for the loader market, which boasts significant advancements over previous generation in terms of service life, energy density, and resilience under harsh operating conditions:
Long service life: With a new generation of long service life cells, the system's lifespan surpasses existing products by over 60%;
High capacity: An integrated battery compartment structure coupled with new-generation cells increases the battery capacity by more than 30%;
Heightened strength and corrosion resistance: The high-strength battery compartment design offers 1.5 times greater mechanical strength, while specialized anti-corrosion materials and processes ensure adaptability to various harsh working environments.
As the global transition towards comprehensive electrification enters its latter phase, CATL's focus will be on deeply understanding the specific needs and challenges of customers across various industries. Leveraging its strengths, CATL will develop customized, specialized products to address these unique requirements. Marked by these new specialized long service life batteries for loaders, CATL is accelerating the development of specialized products while helping drive the commercial vehicle market into the "era of long service life batteries". Collaborating with Lonking and other partners on both product and market fronts, CATL will keep facilitating the comprehensive electrification of the construction machinery industry.
