CATL and Yibin Municipal Government Sign Agreement to Strengthen Cooperation

On July 14, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL) and the Yibin municipal government signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation, looking to jointly build a regional headquarters, a production base, an industrial ecosystem, an international training center, a new energy institute and establish an energy industry fund of CATL in southwest China. Luo Wen, member of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and executive vice governor, Liu Zhongbo, secretary of the Yibin Municipal Party Committee, Du Ziping, deputy secretary of the Yibin Municipal Party Committee and Yibin mayor, and Robin Zeng, chairman of CATL attended the signing ceremony. 


CATL has successively signed contracts for the first to the sixth phase of the Sichuan Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd. (CATL-SC) Traction Battery Project with the Yibin municipal government, with a total investment of more than 30 billion yuan (4.63 billion US dollars) and a floor area of about 3,000 mu (200 hectares). With the concerted efforts of CATL and the Yibin municipal government, the first phase of CATL-SC was officially put into operation on June 17 this year. 


At the signing ceremony, Qu Tao, assistant to chairman of CATL and chairman of CATL-SC, and Tao Xuezhou, deputy mayor of the Yibin municipal government, signed the agreement to strengthen cooperation, which marks another significant step in the cooperation between CATL and the Yibin municipal government. The cooperation will help Yibin to become a world-class traction battery production base that will make important contributions to the carbon neutrality goal of Sichuan Province.
