Recently, the signing ceremony for the strategic cooperation agreement between CATL and FAW Jiefang took place in Ningde, Fujian.
FAW Jiefang, a commercial vehicle manufacturer with a 71-year history, was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in May 2020. It currently has seven product lines and is rapidly expanding its presence in new energy and intelligent connected vehicles (ICV), with the goal of becoming a "top-tier global provider" of green and intelligent transportation solutions.
According to the agreement, the two parties intend to engage in comprehensive cooperation in the field of new energy commercial vehicles, effectively integrating various advantageous resources. This cooperation will encompass battery supply, product development, scientific and technological project applications, industrial ecosystem building, and business model innovation, aiming for mutual benefit and win-win results.
Driven by the "dual carbon" strategic goals, the green transformation of the commercial vehicle transportation industry, a major energy consumer, has become an urgent priority, with significant market potential. According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), sales of new energy commercial vehicles in China from January to November last year reached 462,000 units, marking a year-on-year increase of 31.1%.
CATL also made an early entry into the commercial vehicle sector, launching its first commercial power battery brand - "CATL Tectrans." This brand covers logistics, public transportation, and other areas, meeting the performance requirements of passenger cars, light-duty trucks, heavy-duty trucks, and construction machinery for long range, fast charging, and long battery life, providing full-scenario solutions for the commercial industry.
Looking ahead, CATL will fully leverage its leading edge in core new energy technologies. Together with FAW Jiefang, it will accelerate the development and widespread adoption of battery technology for commercial vehicles, contributing to the early realization of full electrification in the commercial vehicle transportation industry.
