On December 29, CATL's 2022 Supplier Conference themed "Cooperate for Win-Win through Carbon Reduction" was held in Xiamen, Southeast China's Fujian Province. Dr. Robin Zeng, chairman of CATL, together with other executives and nearly 400 supplier representatives from around the world, attended the conference to seek common development of the new energy industry.
In his opening speech, Dr. Robin Zeng reviewed the key tasks and achievements of the CATL in 2022, expressed his gratitude to the supplier partners who have overcome difficulties together with CATL, and put forward three expectations for the development of the supply chain in 2023.
Dr. Robin Zeng pointed out that the new energy industry has entered a mature stage from the budding stage, and the rapid development of the industry has become a definite opportunity. As top players across the world have joined the new energy industry, we must improve our competitiveness in the following three aspects across the supply chain in order to outcompete them in the race. The first one is innovation, which requires the suppliers to increase investment in innovation and continuously improve their technical capabilities. The second one is the cost. The market is always pursuing batteries of higher cost effectiveness, which requires us to work with our supplier partners to continuously reduce cost while improving quality. The last one is the green production. CATL has launched the CREDIT program this year to help suppliers make overall planning to reduce carbon emissions. Some supplier partners have actively participated in the program to make "zero carbon" as our new competitiveness.
Dr. Robin Zeng added that the industry is expected to decuple in the following 10 years. CATL will do its best to help suppliers with its advanced experience in areas including materials, process, technology, management, market and brand.
At the conference, CATL's chief scientist Wu Kai, R&D system co-president Zhao Fenggang, chief manufacturing officer Ni Jun, supply chain and operation system co-presidents Feng Chunyan and Zeng Rong also delivered keynote speeches focusing on the future development of the industry, cutting-edge technologies, digital transformation of lithium-ion batteries, product quality improvement and global operation of enterprises, and put forward many valuable suggestions on how to deepen cooperation, cope with changes and work together to strengthen the resilience of the industry chain.
All the achievements of CATL are closely related to the high-quality delivery by the supply chain. In order to commend the partners who have made outstanding contributions to the high-quality development of CATL in 2022, the "Excellent Supplier of the Year," the "Technology Innovation Award," the "Quality Excellence Award," the "Best Delivery Award," the "Sustainable Development Promotion Award" and other awards were presented to excellent suppliers at the conference.
In the following year, CATL will share the mission with supplier partners to build an "innovative, collaborative, safe, efficient and green" supply chain system, and make unremitting efforts to promote the high-quality development of the new energy industry chain.
